Surprises can be good or bad. In this case the surprise was nice. This morning I noticed a spike in website traffic to Flashissue.com and after a quick investigation on Google Analytics I traced it to a site called ProductHunt.com.  This 1 random post generated 2,037 visits to our site:

I must confess I’ve never even heard of producthunt.com but it turns out to be some type of hackernews for web apps. I’ve also not heard of the guy who made the post – Kevin William David, Co-Founder, WalletKit (thx Kevin). Since Kevin had good influence on producthunt his post got nice exposure and voted up.

Interestingly, there was a trickle down effect from this post as it was syndicated in a couple of related sites. For example, thenews.im generated a further 43 visitors to Flashissue.com

It makes me wonder how many other sites are out that can be put to work like this
