The answer is it yes… The power of content is one of the most powerful forms to keep customers engaged in your business. The challenge is format.  Finding the proper format of how your customers are consuming the information is changing rapidly.

Let me give you and example of how the landscape is changing. I recently wanted to reach out to a former colleague. I sent him a message on Facebook thinking I would get a quick response…cause you know, everybody looks at Facebook every five minutes like I do right? Not necessarily, most customers,  consumers and patrons have had some form of alert overload. Most are consolidating forms of communication. While I will concede that most of the content will continue to move toward mobile, most are choosing either social or email for primary communication. My friend ultimately got back to me a few days  later, but suggested I call him direct or the best mode of communication to reach him would be email.

I am sure many small businesses can relate to this.  Most small businesses I work with do not have the marketing capital to invest in both an elaborate social media and email campaigns. Many companies including us (flashissue), are trying to build tools to make it more efficient to use both email and social along with fixing the problem about what to write about.

What is best for you? I would say pick the one that you are most confident with. Focus your efforts on writing or curating the best content you possibly can. People see significant value in great content, offers or ideas to share. you see this daily on Linkedin . Business professionals sharing relevant content to customers and colleagues alike. Providing great content to customers helps build credibility and trust. A great offer or product suggestion to compliment the content never hurts either. Should you send it via email or through social media?  We would love for you to try flashissue where you can build a marketing template, curate the content, and send via email and social media all at once. In conclusion, I would say try both social and email, but make sure to track and pace your results and then focus your efforts on the tool that is garnering the best results .

What other suggestions do you have? What has worked best for you? I would love you feedback.
