Curation Tames the Wild Animal that is the Internet

At the beginning of the year 2000, the UN estimates there were around 250 million Internet users. In 12 years, that number has ballooned to over two BILLION. Not only are there more Internet users than ever before, the barriers to publishing and distributing content have essentially evaporated.
This means there is more content available than ever before which is not always a good thing. Without moderation and a human filter, it’s really hard to find the good stuff. We’ve talked about why quality curators are the new superheroes of the web before and it’s so true.
A good curator helps you bypass the wild side of the Internet and go straight to the material with the most value. As Steven Rosenbaum, author of Curation Nation says, it’s the new magic that makes the web work. Check out his TED speech:
