how to create a great newsletterThis post will show you how to create a wicked-awesome newsletter using curated content in under 10 minutes.  Here we go…

You’ve all heard the buzz around content marketing, now it’s time to take action.  A great newsletter will engage your audience and win you business.  Follow these steps and you won’t even need to write everything yourself.  We’ve made it easy to find and curate targeted content for your newsletter that’s already out there.

Get Started Now:

Step 1 – Create a Theme

This is how you will unite all of the content in your newsletter to create a narrative.  It doesn’t have to be complicated,  Coca-Cola uses the phrase ‘live positively’ as an umbrella for their content marketing campaign.

Step 2 – Collect Great Content

Once you’ve figured out what your ‘live positively’ is then find articles, videos, podcasts, pictures, etc. that will be valuable to your niche.  Copy and paste the URLs of these articles somewhere (like Google Docs) so you can refer back to them.  Or, if you are using FlashIssue then all you need to do is drop the URLs in to the newsletter builder and you’re all set.

Make sure that you are selecting content that fits your theme from step 1.  Here are some pieces that could be used for a ‘live positively’ newsletter:

Hospital Honors Volunteer on Her 105th Birthday
Coca-Cola Announces America’s Favorite Park Winner

Celebrity Chef Chris Nirschel Cooks for the Homeless

Presenting useful content = becoming an indispensable resource.  The longer your audience sticks around, the better chance you’ll have at converting them to customers.

Step 3 – Drag and Drop to FlashIssue

FlashIssue makes it easy to collect and share excellent content with your audience.  Once you have your list ready, simply add the links to the newsletter builder.

The software will automatically create excerpts, format the content and organize it.  Add your messaging and select a contact list then hit send.

If you’re using another email service to build your newsletter, you can still make it work but it takes more time and requires some finessing.  You’ll have to create your own excerpts manually and add the relevant links back to the original content.

You’re done.  Now go do something fun with the time you just saved.
