Rich Text Makes Newsletters Richer
Jun 20, 2012
This is the latest update in a new series from the team at FlashIssue. It’s an inside look at what we’re doing now and the big things we have coming next. This article is from Thomas, one of our designers and his take on some of the most recent changes to FlashIssue.
If you have been using with the FlashIssue web app since Monday, you will notice a huge change to the editing capabilities.
By implementing a rich-text editor on most editable fields, FlashIssue gives you more flexibility to how you create curated newsletters and emails. Our editor is nothing new in what it does, but it certainly opens up huge possibilities for how the application can be used. Now additional images, links, and sections can be added to a newsletter in a jiffy.
In combination with the new sectional text boxes, you can get the word out about your company, upcoming events, new blog posts, or just your recent activities without having to only pull from your website.
Certain features are conspicuously missing from editor though. If you are wondering why you can’t adjust typeface and color selection, there is a good reason. Currently, we’re working on a way to implement these features while also saving you the hassle of changing it every time you enter a link or adjusting typefaces on every field.
We have a simple rule of making FlashIssue fast and easy, and this translated to why the rich-text editors seem to be missing some functionality. Without giving away our secrets, we are developing an elegant solution to the frustration encountered while making newsletters elsewhere.
So far, we have seen plenty of awesome examples of how the new features are used in practice. We are hoping to share some of these with you as examples of how FlashIssue can be used. If you are interested in sharing a newsletter you created, we would love to have your permission.
Keep an eye out for the new features this week including a better tour and stronger integration with browsers (if you have Chrome, you can already get started).
